Ok, I'll break this thread in.
I didn't draw these, but I created/wrote their story. The character designs are by MIKE DREHER, an awesome arist and a friend of mine since my days at COLLECTORS COMICS in Wantagh. The cover illo is by ROBERT NIX, an extremely talented artist I met on Digital...
Hi everyone. I learned a lot from this page which I drew specifically as part of a 3 page comedic piece for a DC editor last year. The basic lesson is, you cant draw a strip page in the way you would draw a concept art piece or cover. As you can see I intentionally designed a spiral arc from top...
This drawing came out of left field. I hadn't drawn something like this in ages. In High School my love for dragons, monsters and other beast-like creatures was rampant. I was bitten by the anime bug after art school and my work moved away from it. So here you go...a foray back in to the...
I took a look at the problems that we going on with these pages and did some massive revisions, first being the name, which was Secret Six but is now the Creature Chronicles: V.1 Birth of the Deviants, so please everyone take and look and tell me what you think.
I write a lot of prose and this...
The first seventeen pages of an original comic script entitled
*Roughly after Page 11~ I decided to tone down on my directing and description within the panels. *
PLEASE NOTE: This is a training copy of a Greg Horn original. My art sensei, and wife, told me to up my game I need to learn to create from scratch a piece by an artist I admire, so I chose this, but imagined a volcanic Glenn Beck airing his concerns over a skrul conscpiracy eroding the values of...
The shining figure stood, unflinching in the cold night. It was too large to be human. Its head was positioned between its shoulders. It had a huge knife at the end of one arm and a minigun on the other. A single light on the front of the headpiece acted as an eye and could see on the darkest...
Posted it all here (script and each page in chronological order):
There are 17 pages of an intro story (which will be combined with 5 pages of character art) to make up a 22 page first issue. This issue is the first of a five-issue arc that I just...
Below are the first five pages of my first Webcomic. (I plan to get find an artist through aCollaborations section on a forum.)
All feedback is helpful. Be as brutal as you want, it’s probably the best way to get better anyway.

Here's a 32 page story for you!

I'm brand new to lettering and I'm struggling to find art (preferably with scripts) to practice on. I've looked around the web but haven't had much luck finding any good resources. If anyone has any suggestions on where I could find some unlettered pages to hone my skills on, please let me know.
This is a five page script I wrote a couple of months back. I never got any solid feedback on it at the time, so I thought I'd post it here :)
PAGE 1 (five panels)
Panel 1. View overlooking a small city at night, from the top of a lookout point. There is a full moon lighting...
As I mentioned in another thread, I've been re-reading Tales of the Beanworld by Larry Marder and while "working" late (you can make me stay 3 hours late on a Friday, but you can't make me work Mr. Boss) I drew this picture of Beanish.
I drew it in pencil, inked it and started coloring it but I...
Malice in Funland
It was a normal, sunny day. Nothing to suggest that something extremely scary was going to happen. A new horror theme park had just opened in Glasgow. It was ironically named, "Funland." The only thing that was not completely normal was that the park had never been under...
A nice step by step process from sketches to final.
A homage piece to the first Spidey movie.
What do you think?
went for a wee retro look with these.
I done the colors and the overall effect. Lines by I dunno who.
Inks over Harold Edges' take on Velma from scooby...
Here is the colour version of the inks I posted earlier. I asked my girlfriend how to digital colour and she said just approach it like I would a traditional painting so I have. I need to still change a few things like the jeans.
My name's Jesse. I'm a newspaper reporter who wants to break into writing comics.
I wrote this 6-page script purely for my portfolio. It's about Perry White and Lois Lane.
I hope you guys like it.
Amazing Rocketeer by Sara Richard.
Fantastic line work. Thoughts?
Haven't completed it yet, had to order a grey felt tip pen! but I like my tiny toddler hand clutching the pen... adds to the reality of it all! NOT.
This doesn't really fit anywhere, so I figured this part of the forum was close enough (since I'm asking for your ideas) nobody would mind too much.
Has anyone run across, or better yet does anyone have, some sort of boiler plate or free-use template for a work for hire contract?
Anyone here willing and able to answer a couple of Inkscape questions?
I'm using it for my lettering...
1) I was trying to make a cover logo, but when I added effects filters to the text and got something I wanted, if I saved it in any format other than SVG, I lost those effects. Saving it...
I'm teaching myself lettering using the free program InkScape (because I am poor). Would love to get some feedback.
My new column just went up over as Cosmic Book News. The latest installment of "Mike Luoma's... Making It Up!" is a step-by-step, no BS guide to getting an issue of an indy comic out, taking you from concept to finished issue. Give it a read and let me know what you think!
Chapter One: Launch
It’s hard to describe the anxiety Major Joseph Grant felt as he strapped himself in the horizontally mounted chair of the USS Proctor on that sunny morning in Cape Canaveral.
“Houston, this is Proctor, radio check,” he said into his helmet mounted microphone.
Got the 5 pages drawn, inked, coloured and lettered.
I'm waiting on the cover but other than that the only thing missing is my "pitch"
I'd love to know what ya'll think.
Bad Moon Rising – "House of Bricks"
This is the story of a close knit, Special Forces unit, ordered to destroy an...
The Evolution of a Submission to Heavy Metal (pt 2)
The first rule of writing, they say, is "write what you know". I like to include an addendum to that with, "if you don't know it go out and find it". This means...
Many of you here know I once wrote a column for this site titled Metal Madness, all about Heavy Metal Magazine. For that reason I have decided to share with everyone here the evolution of a submission to Heavy Metal. What...
While waiting on a cover being drawn for a pitch I'm putting together, I revisited an old story I'd started writing (pre TPG) and decided to re-write it. So here's the intro to Arianwen, a bad ass teenage mum fighting Romans and bears in the later days of the Roman Empire. (we'll find out that they...
I'm going to try to post little quick tips here and there outside of writing a full-blown column. I'll try to reserve this space for more of a Q&A type of thing. Needless to say, if you've got something bugging you that you need some help with, let me know here and I'll do my best to answer/ find...
This place needs some activity so I thought I would post a few things.
This first page demonstrates a fairly common style in Europe, this one out of France. When I work with clients in Europe I often work as an English...
Since our former inker was also doing the letters, and we haven't even found a new inker yet, I'm not going to bother trying to hunt down a letterer. I figure I'll just do it myself.
I didn't know a thing about lettering a week ago. I got a copy of "Comic Book Lettering the Comicraft Way" last...
Here's a story I wrote a few years ago, around 2005 - shortly after Hush but before Infinite Crisis/One Year Later. That's why it's a bit outdated continuity-wise, and why the writing's a bit dodgy in places. Like the other stuff I've posted here, this originated in an RPG I take part in, though...

A curious take on the Spiderman mythos.
This is a reimage of a young Peter set in similar circumstances to Charlie Brown or Calvin & Hobbes. I loved the strip by artist Vitor Cafaggi!
Most of these you've probably already seen from the previews of Disconnected: Tales of the Sovereign #2. :) Feel free to critique.
Wellem looked up at Bren with those big puppy dog eyes. The ones full of innocence and purity. It was a confusing sight as Wellem was no small young man, to most he was a towering giant. At best though a gentle giant, as cuddly as a garden bear*.
“How about a story Bren, it’ll help me sleep.”...
I was looking through some old RPG posts of mine (see my Fall of Harvey Dent thread for more info), and came across this Joker post I wrote 2 years ago. I thought I'd post it here. It has its flaws, and I'm not entirely happy with it, looking back - I was experimenting with a...
This is a story about a man with two livers, only for him to discover that parting with one will make him whole.
At that link, you can find a link to all my fanfics I've put there. Enjoy.
This has been a story I've been writing on and off over the years. I originally called the story Lycan Assassin but later on changed it to Lyconus Chronicles.
THE LYCONUS CHRONICLES PART 1.
The setting is June 5,2006. In New York City.
The story must end some day. Copyrights belong to
Well, let me start this new section off by posting my original script for Til Death... recently published in Blister #1 available here from Indy Planet
I wrote this one a few years ago, so I don't consider it anywhere near my best, but it is my only thing published so I need to pimp it.
This is a one shot I wrote awhile back featuring my Werewolf character Lyconus. Enjoy.
It was St. Patrick's day and for the good people of the Lycan Dwelling in the East side tunnels of New York, it meant fun for some or a big heeping headache when it came to the ones that decided to get drunk....
These are some works in progress. Really for Ross to pop in and tell my why they suck, when he has the time :p I think I'm improving. Eh Ross, eh eh ?
One of the first things I done with my new graphics tablet.
Link to work :
Thought I'd share this one.
It's a commission I had done with Luis XII.
He's a great Brazilian artist.
I do not consider myself overly skilled, more a jack of all trades. I find it comes in handy when you don't want people to be able to bullshit you.
Anyways, as I have been writing this insane script I doodle out the characters. Mostly I concentrate on the faces, 99% of the source for them is...
Another thread, another character I play in an RPG. This is also in One Universe (see the Harvey Dent thread for explanation on that), though with Thor I only picked him up lately. Another player played him previously, so with my first few posts I've been trying to wrap up the story...
Here is a real crappy comic I did for a contest on these old forums I frequented. I through this together in about 20 minutes. The rules said you had to use their panel layout and word balloons. So I had to work around what was already there. Not sure what they used to create the word balloons...
trying my hand at some colouring, and also some texturising
these are the first attempt at colouring I've ever done so be gentle :p
these started off as black and white...
