    Top Gear

So who watches it and which version?

I personally enjoy the UK, and I've watched some of the US, but it's still pretty rough.

Top Gear is an amazing show. For those who do not understand the basic premise it is basically three men from the UK region that have their own interesting way of reviewing the performance of cars. And then in the end after they do different interesting tests, they always have a speed test around a certain track by a professional driver dubbed 'The Stick'.

Pretty funny guys even if you do not always understand British humor, and I watch it here in the US on the BBC America channel I have. My favorite episode is when they test 3 different types of manual transmission moving-like trucks by seeing how hard it is to go up a very steep hill, with each of the hosts' most favorite possessions at the bottom, threatened to be crushed if they fail to drive up the hill successfully.

I watch the specials when they are on and it is a fantastic show. A very recent episode saw them turning cars into little trains, it was particularly funny when the caravan train caught fire and they didnt even know. bbc gold

Top Gear is great if a little over the top and (obviously) staged at times. Its not really about cars any more though, they only review high power, high cost vehicles that your average premier league footballer or rock star will be able to afford. But its a good laugh with all the genuine banter between the three hosts (Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond) and then you got The Stig....

"Some say that his salary is paid by the BBC in strong pornography, and that wherever you are in the world, if you tune your radio to 88.4, you can actually hear his thoughts. All we know is.. He's called The Stig!"

I agree its over the top sometimes and I do find myself sometimes skipping through; however, I love the challenges and I love things like the train one from this series. And I love the banter between them - they just don't put up with eachother shit - no matter how many facts may be behind them

    American TG aint too bad.

Could be more ballsy tho with the hosts/presenters.

I watch the UK Top Gear, all the other versions pale in comparison in my opinion. But I do have to agree that it does go a bit over the top sometimes, but I still really enjoy all the challenges they have in place.

Yeah the american top gear isn't bad, but the UK one just has such a dynamic that is hard to beat. I think give the US hosts another season and it should get better - but they need to get more guts IMO and get a LITTLE more negative (otherwise it sounds like they're just reviewing stuff they like)
